If it were true, it could electrify desert.
You can say what you like about the Mustang Mach–E but it has captured the attention of the automotive industry. It’s an attractive vehicle, and people are talking about it. Imagine how these conversations would go if Ford went all Raptor and turned it into a wild Baja beast.
While we don’t know what that conversation might turn out to be, this amazing rendering by moaoun_moaoun via Instagram gives us an idea of how it might look. Mustang people, be honest – if your name were different you would be in love with that. Why not? It’s the long, narrow headlights, the grille-like outline, and the massive LED lights in its middle that make it look like the nostrils of an angry…um.. horse. The skidplate and aggressive lower fascia help to keep the tires from gnashing at the sand. Electric power isn’t something you think could be fun. This looks like a lot of fun.
It won’t happen, of course. Ford is not unwilling to do so. The Mach-E is not designed to be an off-roader. The Mach-E is a crossover machine that offers a lot more ground clearance and all-wheel driving to make it easier for those occasional dirt roads. Ford claims a GT trim’s 0-60 time of just 3.5 seconds. This isn’t going to be a surprise to Tesla but it will equal the Mustang GT available in the Blue Oval lineup.
It’s not clear if Ford’s plans to begin Mach-E customer deliveries late in the year, with the world still on hold because of Coronavirus. It all begins with the Launch Edition, and reservations – Ford has stated for some time that they are full – will become official orders next month. However, the Mach-E GT, which is the most powerful version of Ford’s range-topping Mach-E GT will not arrive until 2021.
