Fiat Announces 500 Giardiniera Electric Wagon, Launching New 500e

Fiat will also offer hybrid versions of 500X and 500L.

Although Fiat did not get a dedicated presentation at FCA’s recent conference, like those for Alfa Romeo Maserati, Jeep and Ram, Sergio Marchionne still made some exciting announcements about the Italian brand. The 500e has a new generation, and a wagon version is also available.

Giardiniera and 500e will be powered by FCA’s electric powertrain, which is specifically designed for small-sized cars. However, the company has not yet revealed the specifications. Sergio Marchionne said that the wagon will likely feature five doors instead of the original three-door model. It also has the largest interior volume in its class.

Fiat will electrify the 500X, 500L with hybrid powertrains. Marchionne did not reveal any details about the new models and did not discuss a release date.

The future of Fiat in the United States is still uncertain. Marchionne’s comments are specific to the European market. Although this doesn’t mean that the models won’t be coming to America, it is possible. Rumors suggest that the brand may leave the country.

In 2013, the 500e was redesigned. The electric motor produces 111 horsepower (83 Kilowatts) as well as 147 pound-feet (220 Newton-meters), of torque. The system is powered by a lithium-ion 24-kilowatt-hour battery. The EPA estimates that the EV has an 84-mile (135 km) driving range and 112 mpge when combined.

Fiat has offered crazy deals to try and attract 500e customers. You could have gotten one with for $49 per monthly and no money down during Black Friday 2016. This is less than what many people pay for their mobile phones.
