This Renntech-tuned Benz outperforms almost all its competitors.
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a great example of understated speed. The base model has 241 horsepower (179kilowatts), while the E63 S model, which produces 603 horsepower (449 kW) and can travel 60 miles an hour (96 km per hour) in 3.3 seconds, doesn’t shout “look at me!” The E-Class sedan is the ideal sleeper.
Even on the damp Zandvoort Circuit at European Automaxx Streetpower 2019, this humble, 800-hp (596-kW), E-Class swept the competition. Pun intended. With minor exterior modifications and engine upgrades, the Renntech-tuned E-Class barely distinguishes itself from its base counterpart. Otherwise, it is completely stock. The owner knows that you don’t have to be flashy in order to dominate the track.
An Audi RS6 Avant is the first to be beaten by the Benz. It’s not clear if this is either the base model with 450 horsepower (335-kW), or the Performance model with 605 horsepower (451-kW), or any combination of both. This wagon is fast, regardless of its configuration. Benz shows Audi who the boss is by beating it down, even though it has a substantial tail wag.
The Benz is less successful against a 1,200-hp (894 kW) Nissan Skyline. The Nissan has a better grip and therefore, a better jump. Surprisingly, the luxury four-door vehicle is still competitive with the more powerful coupe. Our account shows that the Skyline barely beats it.
Later, the Benz defeats a host of other competitors. With less-than-stellar results, cars like a modified Audi S8, Audi TTRS and another BMW M3, as well as a Nissan GT-R, line up against the Benz. The clip doesn’t show how fast the E-Class actually moves, but it looks fast even on a damp track.
