Toyota Land Cruiser to be Extinct in the USA After 2021

The United States is entering the end of an era.

The current 200-series has been produced since 2007. The vehicle has seen minor facelifts and updates, but there has been no major overhaul or replacement. Road & Track stated that the Japanese SUV will cease to exist in the United States by 2021.

The Japanese automaker said that the Toyota Land Cruiser was a “legendary name” for over 60 years. We will discontinue the Toyota Land Cruiser after the 2021 model-year, but we will keep exploring new products that will celebrate the Land Cruiser’s rich off-road history.

According to Car and Driver, the new Land Cruiser will be available in the U.S. but it won’t be sold there. The details about the new version are not available.

It is still capable, even though the 200-series has ended. It simply doesn’t compare to the rest of the competition. The chances of developing a new off-roader in the United States are slim considering that it only represents a small fraction of Toyota’s total sales in the U.S.

Although a lot of Land Cruisers have been upgraded, the Land Cruiser is still a hot topic. According to reports, it may be equipped with a Lexus-developed 268 horsepower (199.8-kilowatts), twin-turbocharged V8 motor. It would be an amazing performance for the Japanese SUV.

We can only wait and see what the future brings. We’d love to hear your comments in the comments section.
