New Odyssey Teardrop Trailer Offers Slide-Out Bunk, Vintage Style

Production will begin in the second half of this year.

With its aluminum and wood use, the Odyssey Teardrop Trailer may look like an old-fashioned piece of machinery. But don’t let it fool you. Robert Carlson designed the trailer, which features a sleek design and some really cool features like a slide-out bunk. Although the trailer is still being developed, you might be able to purchase one in the near future.

The Odyssey’s elegant design was inspired by teardrop travel trailers that Carlson saw in Popular Mechanics. Bright anodize aluminum is used in the design. The vintage look features rich pine and birch woods. The Odyssey Streamline model comes with two beds (see the photo gallery below). The king-size bed can be converted into a seating area. However, the slide-out bunk is very impressive. The wraparound tent protects the interior, which measures 6’6″ wide by 3’10” tall.

The outdoor kitchen is located opposite the slide-out bunk. The trailer’s front opens up to reveal all the necessary items to prepare a delicious meal. There are two side tables, an insulated cooler, a camp stove, deep pantry drawers and storage for cutlery. A sink has a three-way faucet and is connected to a 7-gallon freshwater tank. It drains into a 7-gallon graywater one.

Carlson hopes to start production in the fall of this year. However, for now, he is spending his time camping and testing prototypes. He plans to sell the Streamline at $20,000 to $23,000 and has already made plans for the next step. Carlson is currently developing an off-road vehicle called the Geographic, which should retail at $16,000-18,000. However, it’s not clear when this model will be available for sale. After discovering his Odyssey Teardrop Trailer, we are excited to see what Carlson does next.
