This paint pattern took 12 weeks.
McLaren Special Operations customizes a custom Speedtail using an amazing paint finish. After an early prototype of the supercar, Albert is the name that the crew gives it. This unique McLaren Beverly Hills dealer ordered it.
Albert is wearing a mixture of Magnesium silver and Ueno grey in a pattern meant to evoke the camouflage wrap from the 2018 MVY02 Speedtail prototype. The MSO team took 12 weeks to complete a Speedtail standard. They had to paint the paint in a complicated gradient pattern that flows from darker in the front to lighter in the back.
It took two weeks for two people to cover the body. The tape required almost two kilometers (6562 feet). Six weeks was required for the actual paint application. It took four weeks for paint to dry before the panels were reassembled onto the Speedtail. After confirming the alignment of all the pieces, the clear coat was applied to the car.
Albert is a reference to early McLaren F1 test mules. They tested the car at the Albert Drive facility in Woking, England. This is where the legendary supercar was developed. The Speedtail’s creators gave the prototype this name in recognition of its history. It was the first Speedtail to be taken on public roads.
The last McLaren model to be built is the Albert Speedtail. The engine is a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 with hybrid assist that produces 1,035 horsepower (772 kilowatts). It can travel 250 miles an hour (or 403 km per hour) if it has a sufficient runway.
The Albert Speedtail supercar will be on display at Sunset Plaza in Los Angeles at Sunset GT, a cars and coffee event.
