It beat the McLaren Senna.
Czinger presented the production specification for its 21C hypercar last month. The machine also set a new record as part of promotional activities. The 21C set a new lap record at the WeatherTech Laguna Seca Raceway, California under ideal conditions.
The Czinger 12C beat Randy Pobst’s previous record of 1:27.62 seconds behind the McLaren Senna. It lapped the Californian track in 1 minute 25.44 seconds, with Joel Miller as the driver. The hypercar was completely in stock and ran on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2R rubbers. You can watch the entire lap at the video above.
Ewan Baldry is Chief Engineer at Czinger. He comments, “It goes without stating that we are thrilled with the performance of this car.” Czinger’s hard work and our ability to use the cutting-edge technology we have through our association with Divergent enabled us to achieve this lap time.
A modified Tesla Model S Plaid set a new track record on August 1st for an electric vehicle. The zero-emissions sedan won the EV title with a run at the TeslaCorsa 16 event. It took 1 minute, 28.213 second. It is currently third fastest car on Laguna Seca, behind McLaren Senna and Czinger 12C.
The 12C hypercar is still available in stock form. It produces 1,250 horsepower (932kW) from its twin-turbocharged 2.88 liter flat-plane crank V8. Two electric motors are also available. This hybrid powertrain can be used to provide all-wheel drive capability. A more hardcore version, with a higher power-to-weight ratio, is currently in development.
