This VW Party Bus Replica is a Super-Sized VW Party Bus. It’s actually an Old Fire Truck.

It stands 13 feet high, has two floors and is rocking the world with 85 speakers.

We must confess something, friends. This Volkswagen bus is a hoax. We don’t think the proportions are right. These old boats are quite tall, but we can’t recall any bus that was more than 13 feet high. Its nose-to-tail distance (30 feet) seems out-of-place. Did VW ever make a bus with two levels?

Although VW did not do it, here is what it would have looked like. Although it isn’t a bus, this recreation is almost twice as large as the original. We were not joking about the length or height. These stats are mentioned in the Barcroft Cars video which tells the story behind the ultimate party bus, affectionately known as Walter.

This VW Party Bus Replica is a Super-Sized VW Party Bus. It's actually an Old Fire Truck.

This vehicle is completely devoid of VW DNA. This vehicle was once a military vehicle, which served as a firetruck. It was built in 1963 by Walter Truck Company (hence the name). Kirk Strawn, the owner, found the rig in an abandoned junkyard and decided that it would make a great VW bus at a 2:1 scale. It has basic characteristics such as the tall driver who sits on the front wheels and the split-window windshield.

It was much taller than the original bus design to create an accurate one. The truck’s interior was removed and the custom body was built using the truck’s old roof as the floor. By moving the driving position to the roof, the controls were extended up. The sides were then constructed to close the lower and upper sections. It’s also loaded with 85 speakers, since it’s a party bus.

Walter has been taken to Burning Man by Strawn, but he seems to just enjoy driving the bus around. This bus is sure to be the ultimate party bus with its spectacular view of the road, and an impressive sound system that could rival a dance club.
