Aston Martin DBSSuperleggera Volante Spied without Camouflage [UPDATE]

Convertible DBS Superleggera should look identical to hardtop, except that it can open the roof.

We received 10 spy shots of the DBS Superleggera Volante. It was again driving in dry conditions. These are the new photos.

DBS Superleggera Volante’s soft roof looks very similar to the coupe’s fixed-roof version. This is due to the body’s slim shape. The droptop’s smaller opening means that rear view is more restricted. Although it isn’t visible, the active rear spoiler pops up when the vehicle speeds up.

The coupe and convertible will be almost identical mechanically. The twin-turbo V12 engine of 5.2-liters will produce 715 horsepower (533 Kilowatts) as well as 663 pound-feet (899 Newton meters). The large output will be routed to the rear wheels by an eight-speed automatic. Due to the extra weight of the roof and slightly different aerodynamics, the hardtop might accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.4 seconds. It can also reach a top speed of 221 mph (340 km/h). The top should be down so that you can still reach illegal speeds.

The DBS Superleggera Volante’s debut date is not yet known. We expect the grand tourer to go on sale next summer so that you can enjoy the best convertible weather. The coupe’s base price of $304,995 should be higher, and Aston Martin will offer many options to encourage buyers to spend more.
