The full unveiling will take place over several months.
The Maserati Grecale will not debut in Milan on November 16, as originally planned. The smaller Italian brand’s crossover will not be debut until spring 2022. As with many other vehicles, the delay is due to a global semiconductor shortage.
Maserati claims that the Grecale uses “groundbreaking” technology for connectivity and human-machine interface. This obviously requires microchips and they aren’t currently available
The Grecale is a Maserati line-up member that takes the place of the Levante when it arrives. Official teasers and spy shots show it wrapped in a blue wrap, which gives a good idea of the design. The front is sporty with large openings in grille and a sloping roof. The headlights sit just above the corners of your nose and are quite small.
The vehicle’s rest has a more round shape, especially the rear hatch. The center console houses a small infotainment display. It is topped by the brand’s iconic analog clock. Large paddle shifters are featured on the steering wheel.
It is still unknown what the exact powertrains of the Grecale will be. Maserati’s product plan confirms that a fully-electric option will be available at some time in the model’s lifetime. Rumours suggest that a mild-hybrid 2.0-liter engine could be the base engine.
The company has confirmed that the Trofeo version is performance-oriented. This one will be powered by the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 from Maserati MC20, which produces 621 horsepower (463 kilowatts) in this application. The sporty model gets new brakes and a revised package for wheels-and-tires.
We will have to wait longer for the Trofeo’s debut because the standard Grecale was delayed until next spring. For production reasons, automakers often stagger the releases of different models to keep consumers interested in a product.
