Before you get too excited, read the entire rumor.

According to a rumor by CarExpert from Australia, Subaru will make the next generation Levorg a wagon-based WRX. The bad news is that this report may only be applicable to the country Down Under at this time. This means that people elsewhere won’t have access to this fast, all-wheel drive estate.

Subaru Australia spoke out to CarExpert, stating that the Levorg is a niche performance wagon and would evolve into something completely new in the next generation.

This performance-focused, next generation Levorg reportedly makes its debut in Australia in the fourth quarter 2021, making this chance of a resurrected WRX wagon even more intriguing. The same 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine is used in the new WRX. According to Car Expert, the mill produces around 286 horsepower (213 megawatts).

In Japan , the latest Levorg has already made its debut. This wagon is in its second generation and has a look very similar to what we expect from the new WRX. It also features an extended roof and hatchback. The engine is a turbocharged 1.8-liter boxer four-cylinder that produces 174 horsepower (130 kW) as well as 221 lbft (300 Nm). The only choice is a CVT.

The new Levorg has an STI Sport model that comes with ZF-sourced adaptive dampers. It also offers multiple driving modes. You will also find a lower grille, an STI-branded exhaust outlet and 18-inch wheels.

For the 2007 model year, Subaru offered a WRX wagon (see above) in the US. In 2005 and 2006, there was also the Saab 9-2X that was an Impreza but with modified styling. The Aero trim, which is the most expensive trim, shared an engine with WRX.

Subaru has already launched a teaser for the WRX’s latest generation. According to the automaker, is a six-speed manual transmission available. All signs point to a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine. However, this is not yet confirmed. estimates put the power at 300 horsepower (224 kW).
