The price drop is not confirmed but it’s not surprising.
Ford officially confirmed the arrival of the rear-wheel drive Explorer ST in 2022, following a rumor last week. All-wheel drivetrain will now be an option for the midsize crossover that is fast, but pricing has not been revealed.
CarsDirect based on data from Ford’s most recent order guide has determined the Explorer’s pricing. According to the website, the price will drop by $2,000 to $53,415, including handling and destination.
The AWD Explorer ST will cost $55,415 in 2022 model years if we follow CarsDirect‘s lead. The 2021 Explorer ST AWD is currently priced at $55,240, before any discounts.
The price reduction for the RWD Explorer ST is not yet confirmed. A substantial drop was also seen in the Ford Explorer Platinum which came standard with a rear wheel drivetrain in 2021.
Due to multiple price changes and lineup changes, it can be difficult to track Explorer’s pricing over its model years. It is certain that the Explorer Enthusiast ST , the most affordable Explorer Enthusiast, will be available for the 2022 model-year.
Ford also added the ST-Line to its ST-badged Explorer line-up. The Explorer ST-Line, which is priced between the Limited and XLT, is $7,570 cheaper than the full-fledged Explorer ST. It also costs $2,575 less than the Enthusiast ST.
However, the Explorer ST-Line lacks the power. Although it looks like the Explorer ST-Line, it is powered by a EcoBoost engine of 300 horsepower (223 kilowatts), and a 10-speed automatic transmission.
