The car was completely restored and updated with modern technology.
Mecum will sell a 1969 Pontiac GTO convertible that was previously owned by Val Kilmer, on Friday of the Monterey Car Week sale. It will be auctioned off at the end of the day. It is possible that the muscle car could sell for between $120,000 and $140,000.
It now has air suspension and disc brakes on all four corners. The car should feel smooth and move smoothly. The Vintage Air air conditioning system integrates seamlessly into the interior. While custom wheels are identical to the originals, they have a greater diameter than the factory’s.
The hood is revealing a Pontiac 400 cubic-inch (6.6 liter) V8. It has lots of chrome and polished steel. Upgraded belt pulleys and Patriot headers are some of the modifications. The engine output is not listed in the auction listing. This mill was available in ’69 with 265 horsepower (191 kW), 350 hp (273.kW), 366 HP (273.kW), or 360 hp (276.kW).
This unit now has a four-speed manual gearbox, which connects to a Ford 9 inch rear differential. In 1969, the only available automatic was a three speed unit.
Mecum previously sold Kilmer’s GTO to the public in February 2017, . However, that was before the restoration. The car was light blue and had a black top at the time. The engine did not have all the shiny parts. We wonder what Kilmer thinks of his old car.
