Is it possible for a modified truck to match the performance of supercars?
Ram 1500 TRX with a Hellcat motor. This is how you can describe one of today’s most powerful trucks, the Ram 1500TRX . Some feel that the factory power of 702 horsepower (523kilowatts), and 650 pound-feet (881 Nms) of torque are not sufficient. However, there are known upgrades to increase this output. How much power can the TRX make it as fast as a supercar at the drag strip.
A new video by Drag Times features a modified TRX battling against a Lamborghini Huracan RWD. The pickup is a tuned pickup that weighs in at 7,000 pounds (3.75 kg) and has more than 600 hp (671kW) at its wheels. We are talking about 35-inch wheels. A complete upgrade package has been provided to the V8 engine underneath, including a new throttle body and intake system as well as many other components.
These two competitors are clearly very, very different. Although the TRX is more powerful and has an all-wheel drive system, it’s also significantly heavier. They are also very, very different in terms of their prices. The TRX is less than $100,000 even with all the upgrades, while the Lambo costs about $268,000. The quarter-mile times for both vehicles are nearly identical on paper. This makes it a fascinating race.
This is indeed a close race, as you can see in the attached video. As far as we can tell, the first race is all about the start reaction times. All three races in the video are door to door. It’s incredible that you can match (or beat) them all. One of the most impressive supercars built with a modified truck. Enjoy!
