Porsche 911 Hybrid Captured On Camera At The Nurburgring

It is expected that it will be the performance king of the 992 family.

It’s difficult to believe that there isn’t an electrified Porsche 911 yet in production, considering the evolution of the automotive industry over the past few years. If we look at the history of the sports car, the Stuttgart-based automaker introduced the 911 GT3 R Hybrid in 2010. However, it was only a race car for endurance racing. Porsche has now started work on a road-legal 911 Hybrid. We have a spy video that shows it ripping the Nurburgring.

The CarSpyMedia channel, YouTube has attached a video at the top. It shows 1:43 minutes footage of a prototype driving around the famous German track. The car is almost completely uncamouflaged and produces a loud soundtrack that’s accompanied by tire squeaking at tight corners.

The 911 Turbo E-Hybrid is being tentatively called. This car will place efficiency above performance and will likely use a 400-volt system. It is not known if it will be the 911 Turbo E-Hybrid’s flagship model, although Porsche CEO Oliver Blume suggested in an interview that it might. This means that it will be faster and more powerful than the 911 Turbo S.

Also, it is known that the electrified 911 will not be a plug-in hybrid but a regular hybrid. It will be equipped with a smaller battery and will use a 400-volt electric system, rather than an 800-volt system as in the Porsche Taycan. Rapid charging is possible with the battery-powered vehicle, but that’s not required in a parallel hybrid.

The video shows that the prototype has a dual-clutch transmission. It is also known that the 911 (992) shares an eight-speed DCT with the Panamera hybrids.

The 911 Hybrid will be available in 2023, and it will also be available as a model in 2024. The launch of the 911 Hybrid could occur during the mid-cycle refresh, which could mean that it could be based on the refreshed model.
