Production of Hardtop Bronco is currently on hold. Again.
Ford has announced that it will replace all molded-in colors hardtop in the new Bronco because of quality issues. This is causing a lot of production problems for the two-door model. It also adds to the troubled launch of the SUV. Some wondered if Ford was planning to produce a soft-top two door variant. However, Mike Levine, Ford Manager of Product Communications, took to twitter Wednesday to discredit that speculation.
Levine tweeted that Ford does not have a plan for soft tops for the 2 door Bronco . Ford offers only the two-door Bronco with hardtops, and the only available hardtop right now is the molded in plastic roof. Ford’s plans to replace the MIC tops will cause another halt in production. The replacement tops won’t be available until October. Ford intends to replace the roofs on Broncos that have been delivered first, before fixing those in stock. Bronco hardtop production is expected to resume after that.
Orders that are still pending a build date won’t get a 2022 model. However, they can switch to the four-door soft top model to speed up their Bronco. The 2022 model will be produced in December. Ford intends to preserve pricing through the 2023 model-year, so customers will still be able to keep their MSRP prices the same while they wait for their cars.
Ford’s new Bronco launch has not been smooth. Ford has had to deal with numerous delays in getting the SUV to customers. However, supplier issues continue to plague this product. Customers will be waiting longer for their SUVs due to the MIC hardtops issue. Ford’s other Bronco hardtops are being delayed until 2023, adding to the ongoing roof problems.
