At the New York Auto Show, Jeep revealed some details about the Renegade US-spec Renegade.
The entry-level Renegade Sport is equipped sparsely with power windows/locks, tilt/telescope steering wheel, and a basic UConnect 3.0 infotainment platform. It also features a four-speaker sound system, a split-folding 60/40 rear bench, and 16-inch steel wheels.
The Renegade Latitude offers owners fog lights, body-color door handles, privacy glasses, and 16-inch polished aluminium wheels. This model features leather-wrapped steering wheels, air conditioning, and a six-speaker stereo system. It also has a Uconnect infotainment program with a 5-inch touchscreen display.
The Renegade Limited features a new grille, chrome mirrors, and 18-inch polished aluminium wheels. Highlights include heated front seats, Nappa leather seats, and a digital instrument cluster. You will also find floor mats, a dual zone automatic climate control system, and an auto-dimming reverseview mirror.
The Renegade Trailhawk is designed for street use, but has a higher ride height, skid plates, and unique bumpers which improve approach and departure angles. Hill decent control, a Jeep Active Drive Low four wheel drive system, Rock mode, and 17-inch alloy wheels with aggressive on-road and offroad tires are some of the features found in this model.
Two engines will be found under the hood. The 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo four cylinder produces 160 horsepower (119 kW), and 184lbft (250 Nm), respectively, while the Tigershark four cylinder produces 184bhp (137 kW) as well as 177lb-ft (236Nm) of torque. This engine is only connected to a nine speed automatic transmission, which promises “aggressive launches and smooth power delivery at highway speeds. It also offers improved fuel efficiency than competitive six-speed auto transmissions.”
