It is a tribute to the 1960 Corvette race at Le Mans.
The Chevrolet Corvettewent on Le Mans in 1960 and participated in the first ever race on a worldwide stage. Briggs Cunningham, a famous racer, actually raced three 1960’Vettes in white and blue to the famed endurance race. Two of them crashed out and the third won.
Lingenfelter Performance Engineering has created a new white Corvette with blue stripes that is attracting attention 60 years later (technically, 61). The Lingenfelter Cunningham 60th anniversary Corvette is named after the 1960 victory. It features bolt-on performance and adds a little more power to the C8.
Although this Corvette will not be racing at Le Mans, it has the same look as the 1960 C1 ‘Vettes. The white C8 has twin blue stripes running down its center. Additional blue trim work is scattered around the car. It is an aero upgrade and carries the number 3. This is in honor of the 1960 Le Mans-winning race car that was driven by John Fitch (and Bob Grossman). Modern-day five-star racing wheels, the HRE are larger than the original. The package also includes special interior trim.
Some notable upgrades are hidden under the C8’s engine covers. Lingenfelter has added a variety of performance parts to the C8, beginning with a sleek-looking carbon intake manifold. The intake is bolted to by an upgraded 95-millimeter throttle, and Corsa headers as well as the exhaust amplify the C8’s sound. Lingenfelter also adds a front C8 lowering kit and Alcon /RB brakes to the handling and braking departments. Cunningham Automotive says the final result is 600 HP, which is a significant improvement on a stock C8.
Cunningham Automotive claims that only 60 cars will ever be built. This is for obvious reasons. They won’t come cheap. Prices start at $159,995.
