Ford F-150 Lightning Rendering Shows Influence Of Original SVT

Yes, please!

The Ford F-150 model range has expanded to include not only regular trucks with different lengths and layouts but also a performance model, the Raptor and an electric version. We are missing a true street performance model, as a successor of the Lightning. Here’s how it might look if it does return to Ford.

This rendering shows a new generation F-150 SVT Lightning, based on the Tesla Model S . The second-generation SVT, produced between 1999 & 2004, was a more sporty version of the pickup.

The EV truck’s LED daytime running lamps are still present at the front. A new aggressive bumper design with two round fog lights enhances the front fascia. While the lower bumper grille is unchanged, the fog lamp surrounds are now more aerodynamic and reminiscent of the second generation Ford SVT Lightning.

As you can see, the truck rides lower and has large five-spoke wheels that are coated with performance rubber. The new front bumper has sportier looking side skirts that connect to the rear bumper. As the new performance truck is electric powered, it doesn’t need side exhaust pipes.

We are not sure that the F-150 Lightning will ever be made commercially. Ford is unlikely to invest millions to make a street-oriented F-150 Lightning, which only a handful of people would buy, because customers are more interested in off-road performance trucks.
