You don’t need a new Chevy Cruze to own a nice RV.
Let’s suppose you have $18,000 spare in your pocket. (We know it’s not possible to have “spare” money but we’ll still humor you) and you want to spend it on a four-wheeled vehicle. You would likely be advised by the angel on your shoulders to do something sensible. “Go to the Chevy dealer to purchase a brand new Cruze sedan. Enjoy its factory warranty, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment screen and the convenience of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto compatibility.
Practical? Yes. Exciting? It’s not. The devil appears on your other side: “Why have a guarantee and modern technology when you could own something that reflects who you are?”
We say to follow your worst angel and give up common sense in favor of idealism. If you are anything like us, there aren’t many better ways to spend $18,000 than on this classic GMC Glenbook motorhome. Technically, you will need to spend $17,000.
currently for sale Mount Vernon, Indiana. This Glenbrook is one among 1,656 Glenbrooks built for the 1975 model-year, according to GMC Motorhomes International. General Motors tried to enter the motorhome market with the rotund RV.
The Glenbrook was first sold in 1973. It took all the ingredients of an RV and put them in a blender. The Glenbrook was not equipped with a rear-wheel drive chassis. Instead, it used an Oldsmobile Toronado-derivedfront-wheel-drive powertrain that helped lower the floorboards. The RV’s smooth ride on bumpy roads was made possible by an air suspension system.
The Glenbrook has a claimed 105,000 mile mileage on its chassis, and an engine that has been well maintained and mated with a newly rebuilt transmission. The classic 1970s decor is complemented by modern conveniences like a new furnace and fridge. You can literally live in this house, thanks to its full kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Why would anyone need a mortgage? Even a Chevy Cruze is enough.
