According to Car and Driver citing inside sources, the 2021 Audi A3 Sedan will go on sale in the United States by the end of this year. The A3 Sportback sedan for the European market was already shown in spy photos. According to Car & Driver, the A3 sedan will be equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with mild-hybrid assist that will produce about 240 horsepower (179kilowatts). The European A3 hatchback offers more options than the A3. The base unit is a 1.0 liter three-cylinder that produces 110 horsepower (82 kW). A 1.5-liter unit is also available, with or without mild hybrid assistance. Both have 150 HP (112 kW). The 2.0-liter turbodiesel can be equipped with either 116 horsepower (87 kW) and 150 horsepower. Two plug-in hybrid versions will be available later, using a 1.4 liter turbocharged engine, an electric motor and a six-speed dual clutch gearbox. Car and Driver suggest that the A3 hatchback would only be available in America as an E-Tron plug in hybrid. It will arrive in the country after the sedan.
