It is one thing to restore a 300 SL, but it is quite another to make it wild and restomod.
Yet, there are petrolheads that love the classic design of the roadster but who also appreciate modern technology and 21st century performance. John Sarkisyan, a member of S-Klub, is one such enthusiast. He’s known for his crazy Porsche builds and his incredible 300 SL Coupe restoration. He’s back again with a 300 SL project, this time based on an original 1954 car.
All the work was completed in four months, starting with a 300SL shell. Sarkisyan created the detailed renderings while Alan Iwamoto turned the virtual drawings into reality. The original design has been preserved, but the car still reflects the spirit of the 300 SL.
Under the smooth skin is a 2002 SLK32 AMG. The supercharged AMG V6 engines provide the power and there are many performance upgrades to the stock build. These include bigger brakes and Toyo tires. The outside features include a 300SL grill, badges and taillights. The Porsche Speedster windshield comes from an RS3.
It sounds interesting, right? The video below explains more about the fiberglass chassis and custom leather interior. It is worth it.
