These races have a clear winner.
The M5 CS boasts 626 horsepower (467 kilowatts) and a twin-turbocharged 4.4 liter V8. It also has an eight-speed manual. Rear-biased all-wheel drive system gives you plenty of traction. According to official specs, the sedan can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.9 seconds, and 124 mph (202 kph), in 10.4 seconds. Electronically, the top speed is limited to 190 mph (306 km/h).
BMW uses carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic for the hood, front splitter, mirror caps, rear spoiler, and rear diffuser. This allows for a weight loss of 154 pounds (or 70 kilograms). The CS will be only available for the model year 2022 and will cost $142,000 plus a $995 destination fee.
The Charger Hellcat Redeye, on the other hand, has a supercharged V8 of 6.2-Liter offering 797 horsepower (594 kW) as well as 707 pound-feet (959 Newton meters) of torque. The power is routed to the rear wheels by an eight-speed automatic. The Redeye can reach 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, and the quarter-mile in 10.6 seconds. Dodge claims that the Redeye can reach speeds of 203 mph (327 km/h).
The 2021 Charger Redeye is available for $78,595 plus a $1,495 delivery charge. Let’s move on to the racing. Although the BMW has a significantly lower power output, it is still able to accelerate by 0.7 seconds to 60 mph according to factory specifications. This could be due to all-wheel drive tech.
The M5 CS is flying off the line in the first race and the Charger Hellcat Redeye can’t keep up. At the finish, there is a huge gap between them. The M5 CS can be driven in rear-drive mode for the second race. This slightly evens out the playing field, but not significantly. However, BMW claims victory. Finally, there is a race from the roll.
