Nissan 350Z with Tesla Motor Swap Drag Races 2nd-Gen Dodge Viper

The races are closer than you might think.

It’s a race between the present and the future. A 2002 Dodge Viper faces off against a Nissan 350Z equipped with a Tesla powertrain. Each machine is impressive in its own right, but you’ll be able to see which one wins more. The Viper It is largely stock. Borla exhaust is the only modification to the 8.0-liter V10 motor. This should give the engine a factory-spec output of 450 horsepower (336kilowatts). It also features a set of Toyo R888 tires and a set lowering springs. This vehicle is not in stock. It started life as a 2006 Nissan 350Z. Now it has a custom Liberty Walk370Z body kit, and a Tesla Model Spowertrain. It produces approximately 620 horsepower (460 kW). You’d normally find the V6 engine under the hood. The batteries are located underneath the hood. Modifications to the chassis are required to accommodate the Tesla rear subframe. An air suspension is also available. The custom center stock also includes a tablet that allows you to control the system.

Over a distance of 1,000 feet (304.8 meters), the first race is head-to-head. The Viper wins despite being less powerful and lacking the torque of an electric motor. It leads the race and keeps it ahead.

The second race is identical to the first except that the Viper cannot take off until the 350Z launches. The Nissan leads at the start, but the Dodge closes in on them. The Tesla-powered Z is only half a length ahead at the finish. The Viper would have won if there were just a few more feet of road.

The third race is from a 20-mile-per-hour (32-kilometer-per-hour) roll. The 350Z leads the race, but the Viper is closing the gap. In another tight competition, the Tesla-powered Z wins a second time. There’s still one heads-up race left, and it’s the best. The Viper leads briefly off the line. The Z follows suit. Dodge is a real competitor and wins by one nose.
