The new Lexus GX has a different instrument panel and a three-spoke steering column.
We get our first glimpse at the refreshed Lexus GT through a new gallery of spy pictures. Even though the upgrades are small, the SUV’s age is due for some major overhauls. These exterior changes only affect the front of this test mule. The LED headlights have been redesigned and the concealment isn’t enough to hide them. The GX’s polarizing spindle grille from Lexus still graces the vehicle, but the revised design appears to be more modern and compatible with the latest LC 500 and LX. The front fascia has a contrasting silver area.
The changes on the inside are very minor. The new steering wheel is a three-spoke design. The multifunction display that displays analog gauges has a larger size. Although the layout of the central stack remains the same, it is possible that the infotainment software has been updated. The powertrain changes for the refreshed GX remain a mystery. These spy photos don’t suggest any major modifications. The current model has a 4.6-liter V8 that produces 301 horsepower (225 Kilowatts) as well as 329 pound-feet (446 Newton meters). The six-speed automatic gearbox transmits power to an all wheel-drive system with an electronic locking differential. Lexus may add an upgraded transmission with more gears to increase the SUV’s fuel efficiency.
The current Lexus GX model dates back to the 2010 US model year. A refresh gave it a updated look that was comparable to the 2014 version of the SUV. This model has been a moderately successful for the marque. The GX was sold 26,724 units in the United States in 2018, a slight decrease from the 27,190 units in 2017.
