Brand’s First Hot Crossover, Abarth Pulse But It’s Only For Brazil

It will be sold at Abarth-designated stores throughout the country.

Abarth currently works on an all-electric hot-hat that is based on Fiat 500e, but the company does not stop working on combustion-powered models. Brazil is the next destination for the brand’s first ever crossover. It will be available in Brazil under the Pulse name later in the year. The crossover will be sold at dedicated Abarth showrooms in Fiat dealerships. Initial plans were for 50 shops to open within Brazil.

The Abarth Pulse is, as you probably know, based on the Fiat Pulse. This is a small crossover vehicle for South America. The Abarth Pulse was introduced last year with a cute exterior and compact dimensions. It also features a tech-heavy cabin that has a fully digital instrument cluster as well as an infotainment display at the center console. Abarth has now completed a complete exterior remodel.
The sporty package includes several components. It includes a new radiator grille featuring a honeycomb structure, a large Abarth logo and a front apron that has modified side air vents as well as lower-mounted fog lamps. A modified rear apron is featured with a diffuser and two exhaust tubes, which are integrated on the left side. The main body color is complemented by red accents in the side doors, front fascia and side mirror caps.

We don’t know what is happening underneath the hood. Abarth has not provided any information on whether there are mechanical upgrades. The standard Pulse comes with a 1.3-liter Firefly Flex naturally-aspirated engine that produces 106 horsepower (79kilowatts) as well as 99 pound-feet of torque (134 Newton-meters). Standard equipment includes a five-speed manual transmission.

A 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline unit is also available with a peak output power of 128 horsepower (96 kW) or 147 lbft (200 Nm). This power is sufficient to propel the small crossover from standstill to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 9.4 seconds. Although this is not an impressive number, we expect Abarth to make the car a little more powerful and faster off the line.
