Featuring over-the-air map updates.
Opel’s second-generation Insignia was introduced at the end of 2016. The company’s flagship model has already received a significant update. The new infotainment system will be available later in the year for all midsize models (Grand Sport and Country Tourer as well as the GSi). It provides more connectivity along with other upgrades.
Multimedia Navi Pro and Multimedia Multimedia offer convenient Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integrations, as well as Bluetooth and USB connectivity. DAB+ digital radio will be available as an option, and up to two smartphones can be connected to the infotainment systems simultaneously.
The Navi Pro setup is more expensive but will allow you to access a variety of connected navigation services such as live traffic information, fuel prices, and online maps. Smooth scrolling and continuous zoom make the 8-inch infotainment screen easy to use.
Navi Pro allows drivers to create and save their own profiles. The Navi Pro system will allow up to five people to store their preferences. This includes favorite playlists and destinations as well as climate control settings. Opel will add functionality to the system by offering personalized search and navigation routing that is based on driving patterns.
It is worth noting that the driver’s display can be augmented by an optional head up display for an additional fee, but this will only be available to cars with the Navi Pro setup.
The two infotainment system will be available in the Insignia lineup and later in 2019 for the rest of Opel’s range. We should also note that new Opels will soon be without the OnStar live assistance services of General Motors. This will happen at the end 2020. Opel Connect will replace it with tech from parent company PSA, and the next generation Corsa will be one of the first to get it.
