Ford Ranger Splash Edition Returned as Reimagined Appearance Package

Is there a stepside?

Ford has begun work on the next-generation Ranger. But, the automaker is looking back to its past to create a special edition pickup. For a unique appearance package, the automaker will resurrect the Splash moniker. The package does not include the Splash’s side-by bed.

According to Ford, more than 80% of Ranger customers customise their pickup with an exterior package. Therefore, the Splash is a great option. Ford actually has two Splash packages, the Splash Limited Edition and the Splash Package. Ford will only release these limited edition pickups in limited quantities every few months. Ford claims that only a handful of these pickups will be made available. They will come with 18-inch matte black wheels, unique interior and exterior content and finishes combinations.

The Splash package comes with standard Splash side graphics in black-and orange, matte black 18-inch 12-spoke wheels, and orange grille nostrils. Glossy black accents are used on the grille, bumpers and side-view mirror caps. Wheel lip moldings and fender vents are also included. Orange contrast stitching is added to the interior, including the steering wheel, parking brake boot, gear lever and steering wheel. Lariat models equipped with the Splash package get orange accent stitching at the front and back armrests, as well as the dash.

Ford claims deliveries will begin in the second half of this year. This package is available in the SuperCrew models in the XLT or Lariat trims. The package costs $1,495. It can be combined with FX2 and FX4 packages. Although it’s disappointing to see the package go back without the stepside bed this is an uplifting moment. It’s a wonderful send-off for this model, before the next-generation version arrives in 2023. This should give the pickup an extensive and complete overhaul – something it has been lacking since Ford brought it to America in 2019.
