2022 Subaru Forester gets a price increase for car and destination fee

To ship your model 2022, you’ll need to pay $75 more

It’s been a busy week for Subaru. The new Forester Wilderness was leaked online via Subaru’s Canadian website. This gave us an early glimpse at the SUV that is off-road. Although we don’t know whether that leak caused Subaru to officially debut the Wilderness and refreshed 2022 Forester lineups shortly afterwards, it is now all official. It is also slightly more expensive in more ways than one.

In our first post , we already covered the Forester wilderness. The article does not mention changes to the Forester lineup. It also covers pricing. The article doesn’t include year-over-year price increases for the SUV or its destination fee. These increases are not uncommon, especially when there are modifications to the vehicle.

A 2022 Forester will cost you between $370 to $480 more depending on the trim level. The destination fee is $75 higher than last year. It’s not a large amount, but increasing destination and delivery costs have become a problem for many people in recent years. The real price rise for the 2022 Forester is between $445 to $555.

Below is a complete breakdown of pricing for the 2022 Forester trims, as well as comparisons to 2021.

What are you getting for the extra price? The Wilderness has a new front clip that features a bolder, larger grille and narrower headlights. They also have eyebrow-like LED daytime stripes that point inward. This updated look is available to all 2022 Foresters. Subaru also enhances the SUV’s strength with stronger roof rails. The roof can hold 220 pounds of cargo when moving, compared to 176 pounds in the previous year. The roof can hold 800 pounds at rest. This is a convenient number for campers who wish to set up a tent on the roof. A new auto emergency steering feature is available on Premium and higher-level trims to help prevent collisions at speeds below 50 MPH.

It is worth noting that the Forester won’t be the only Subaru to see its destination fees increase for 2022. The Ascent and Outback are equal to the Forester’s $1125 fee. Although the Legacy is slightly less than the Impreza, it’s still higher than the $925 fee in 2021.
