2022 Toyota 4Runner Gets More Standard Tech and a New TRD Sport Trim

A new Lime Rush color is available for the TRD Pro.

The 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Sport was unveiled in June. However, the brand has released additional information about the model, as well as details on the updates for the new model year. Depending on which trim level you are looking for, there are a lot of new standard features.

All 2022 4Runners come standard with LED high beams as well as LED low beams or fog lights. Each SUV comes standard with an alert to remind drivers to check the rear seat for pets or children before they leave the vehicle.

The SR5 Premium and TRD Off-Road premium, TRD Pro and Limited trims now have blind-spot monitoring as well as rear cross-traffic alarm. A new Multi-Information Display is available for the Limited and other TRD grades.

Multi-Terrain Monitor is available on the TRD Pro. This monitor uses the vehicle’s camera to detect obstacles that might be hidden behind the wheel. The Limited model also has a Panoramic View Monitor, which aids in maneuvering in tight spaces.

The 4Runner’s new TRD Sport grade makes it a more comfortable SUV. The Limited model gets the adaptive-damping suspension. It is equipped with 20-inch wheels and Dark Gray accents. The driver’s seat is eight-way adjustable and power-adjustable. The 8-inch screen is compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Buyers have the option to choose between rear- and four-wheel drive.

The TRD Pro gets a new exterior color, Lime Rush, for 2022 (see it in the gallery).

The 2022 4Runner will continue to be powered by a naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter V6. It produces 270 horsepower (201 Kilowatts) as well as 278 pound-feet (377 Newton meters) of torque. They all have a 5-speed automatic.

The 2022 4Runner starts at $37,305 plus a $12,215 destination fee for the base grade SR5 grade. The new TRD Sport is available for $40,150. The TRD Pro, which costs $52,120, is the most expensive.
