It is comfortable in the left lane.
For the model year 2022, Land Rover Range Rover was given a major overhaul. The fifth generation has a brand new platform, new design, and lots of new technology. AutoTopNL’s new video shows the Range Rover taking the SUV to the German Autobahn to undergo a high-speed test that pushes it to the limits.
The Range Rover has a mild-hybrid powertrain, which combines electrical assistance with a 3.0-liter six cylinder engine. This combination produces 400 horsepower (298 Kilowatts) as well as 406 pound-feet (405 Newton-meters) in torque. The new Range Rover is designed for luxury but it can still be driven on a lot of roads.
Although the Range Rover can rocket past 62 mph (100 km/h) in just six seconds, it takes 30 seconds for the SUV to reach the 124-mph mark (200 kph). It’s still not close to the SUV’s top speed. After a few more attempts AutoTopNL finally reaches the SUV’s maximum speed of 150 mph (242 km/h).
The Range Rover’s speed is 154 kph (249 km/h), which is a little more than the official maximum speed. Although it is a small difference, it is still better than being a few ticks slower.
The Land Rover brand is all about luxury, but it also doesn’t compromise on performance. Although the Range Rover P400 is a good entry-level choice that can keep up with other vehicles on the Autobahn, Land Rover offers a more powerful 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8. It produces 523 horsepower (390 kW) as well as 553 pound-feet (407Nm) of torque. In 2024, Land Rover will introduce a fully-electric Range Rover.
We drove this new 2022 Range Rover earlier in the year and called it “a near perfect blend of luxury, capability and technology and grace.” This AutoTopNL video shows that. Although the P400 is a little slower than the V8 version, it can still find comfort in the Autobahn’s leftmost lane.
