Solar-Powered Stella Vita Camper Has Pop-Up Roof, Pop-Out Panels

On a sunny day, it can travel up to 453 m.

Students at Eindhoven University of Technology in The Netherlands are envisioning electric vehicles as a way to transform the way we move around. Solar Team Eindhoven has 22 students who have designed and built the first solar-powered camper. The Stella Vita is a prototype of sustainable living and mobility.

The solar panels on the camper can power the various functions of the vehicle and the camper itself. The camper can travel 730 km (453 miles) on a sunny day. You can also charge your phone and laptop while the camper charges. The camper has a pop-up roof, which increases interior headroom. This makes it easier to get up to work, cook, or do other tasks.

It is all about practicality, maximising interior space, aerodynamics and surface area in the camper’s design. It was necessary to cover the solar panels with a long, thick roof. However, this roof does not include extra solar panels. These panels can be raised and folded out, increasing the solar panel’s surface area and solar consumption. The battery and propulsion system that power the camper are not known.

The camper’s interior is spacious and comfortable, while the overall design seems futuristic. Designers will have more freedom to imagine new ways of getting around with EVs, and a solar-powered camper seems possible down the road. The Stella Vita will be used to travel across Europe by students on September 19. It uses only solar power. You might be traveling through Europe with this odd-looking vehicle. This product might not become a reality for many years.
