These unofficial renderings showcase a rugged-looking SUV.
The Toyota Sequoia, an old beast that still roams the roads nearly unchanged since its 2008 debut, is a classic. It is closely related to the Tundra which was just redesigned for the 2022 model-year . We are glad that the Tundra made its debut. Kolesa.ru has provided new renderings that show what a next-generation Sequoia might look like if Toyota took inspiration from the new Tundra.
The third generation Tundra features bold styling elements, particularly at the front where a large grille dominates most of its face. The Sequoia renders leave that grille unchanged, so the large expanse of black will not please everyone. The SUV version does temper the bold appearance of the grille by adding mass to the rear. Truck’s dimensions are rounded out by the longer roof and additional side windows.
The rear of the rendering looks very spacious. The Tundra can be transformed into an SUV without much modification at the back. However, the rear hatch floor of the Sequoia would need to be closer to the ground to allow for easy access to the cargo space behind the third-row seats. The Tundra’s angular rear styling is a good match for an SUV shape. It makes for a compelling product.
The Tundra rides on Toyota’s TNGAF body-on frame platform. This platform also supports the Toyota Land Cruiser. It is expected that it will underpin the next-gen Sequoia when Toyota announces it. We don’t think it will be too long. The company had announced last year that it would move Sequoia production to the San Antonio, Texas, facility by 2022. The 2022 Pickup will follow the Toyota Tundra, which is already being assembled at the site. The Sequoia is expected to follow it.
