Honda Passport TrailSport Rugged roads Project Previews Offroad Upgrades

According to the automaker, there will be more off-road Trailsport models.

The company launched the Honda Passport and introduced TrailSport, a rugged trim level. The main focus of the new TrailSport trim level is visual enhancements. However, there are wider front- and rear tracks which should improve stance and stability. Honda offers more offroad improvements and is known for its long Passport TrailSport Rugged Roads Project title.

It is a prototype, and it will only be used to show off future accessories and gear for overlanders. It is based upon the Passport TrailSport, and Honda states that it “expresses Honda’s vision for more offroad capable production Trailsport vehicles to come.” The gallery below shows how it looks like there may be factory Passport upgrades in the future.

Honda joined forces with Jon Tuico, a Passport enthusiast who runs the JonDZ Adventure channel. The Passport TrailSport Rugged Roads Project will make its public debut at the Flagstaff Overland Expo West (September 24-26). It rides on a suspension with a Jsport lift kit, and Firestone Destination T2 all-terrain tires on each corner. The automaker claims that this combination improves the SUV’s off-road traction without compromising the Passport’s exceptional road manners.

Additional stainless steel skid plates protect vehicle’s fuel tank and oil pan, while additional body cladding protects the body. Equipment includes roof crossbars and a Dirt Complex tire carrier. The radiator grille is finished with custom-made orange recovery points, and an orange TrailSport badge.

The Passport TrailSport will continue to be the ruggedest Passport vehicle that 2022 Passport money can purchase, until this concept becomes a production vehicle. The model should be available for purchase this winter. Prices will likely be announced closer to the date.
