The unique Prancing Horse receives some much-needed love after 16 years.
Ferrari Enzo is an extremely rare car. Only 400 were ever produced. But the P4/5 elevates exclusivity to a new level. Pininfarina, an acclaimed Italian design house, was responsible for both projects. However, the Prancing Horse logo company didn’t know what was going to happen to the F50 successors.
The unique P4/5, which James Glickenhaus commissioned to be built (including the donor car), was created at Pininfarina’s proposal to make a custom vehicle. Original plans for the Enzo’s sister car, the Maserati MC12, were to use it as the foundation for the modern version of the 1960s Ferrari 330 P3/4. They ultimately decided to use an Enzo of US-spec as the foundation.
Like his other cars, the P4/5 was driven and not kept in a garage. The one-of-one Ferrari is still in excellent condition 16 years later. However, the bodywork was beginning to show signs of age – something that AMMO NYC can fix.
Maranello’s retro-flavoured supercar was not only cleaned and polished but also had its paint and interior cleaned. The P4/5 uses a lot of carbon fiber which requires special attention.
It looks as good today as it did in 2006, when it was first unveiled. Glickenhaus also ordered a P4/5 race-spec car a few years later. However, rather than being an Enzo-based motorsport project, it was a marriage of a F430 GT2 and a 430 Scuderia. In August 2013, the two Ferraris were reunited for a family portrait.
