McLaren seems to be producing more one-offs these days than series production cars.
McLaren unveiled a pair 720S s that it had specially commissioned. These 720S s were developed by the Special Operations division (MSO). They will be on display at Salon Prive at the Blenheim Palace Classic & Supercar events at the end this month.
The 720S Speed Theme and the 720S Pacific Theme follow the 720S Velocity Theme , which was unveiled at the Geneva motor show. The McLaren Manchester-commissioned Track Theme is painted in Anniversary White with hand-painted detailing to the hood, doors, rear quarter panels, and airbrake in Carbon Black and McLaren’s Formula 1 color from 2017, Tarroco Orange; while the Pacific Theme, which was commissioned by McLaren Glasgow, is painted in Cerulean Blue with its door intakes finished in a darker Estoril Blue.
McLaren Special Operations’ Managing Director Ansar Ali stated that the 720S is a remarkable car in all respects in its standard form, but there are always opportunities to make it more special by adding individual, creative input. “We were overwhelmed at the response to the 720S Velocity’s unveiling. To bring to life two additional versions of MSO 720S Themes further demonstrates how MSO can meet any customer’s request to make sure that a car meets their vision.”
Both cars received the MSO treatment interior-wise. The interior of the 720S Track Theme has been finished in Jet Black Alcantara and McLaren Orange contrast stitching. The Track Theme has been designed to be lightweight. All of its interior and exterior carbon fiber components are finished in a satin finish to reduce weight. The titanium harness bar is 50 percent lighter than the standard steel version.
The Pacific Theme standard seats have bespoke blue inserts, contrast stitching, and a discrete blue center band at the steering wheel.
Each car also has a dedication plaque in its interior to show the unique nature of each one.
