The North American Car and Truck of the year jury has selected nine nominees to the awards in each of the three categories. After a final round voting between January 2 and 4, the group will announce its winners on January 11.

The Genesis G80 and Hyundai Elantra are the finalist for the Car of the Year Award. They beat the semifinalists, which included the Acura TLX and Cadillac CT4/CT4-V as well as the Kia K5 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

The Ford F-150 and Jeep Gladiator Mojave are the finalist in the Truck of the year category. The Ford Super Duty was the other semifinalist.

The Ford Mustang Mache, Genesis HTML80 and Land Rover Defender are the Utility Vehicle of the year finalists. This category was the most popular. These semifinalists were the Cadillac Escalade/Suburban Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban Chevrolet Trailblazer Ford Bronco Sport Hyundai Santa Fe Kia Seltos Kia Sorento Mazda CX-30 Nissan Rogue Toyota RAV4 Prime Toyota Venza and Volvo XC40 P8 Recharge.

Gary Witzenburg, President of NACTOY, stated that “In this very difficult year these nine vehicles emerged als our Finalists from an unusually strong field with 27 Semifinalists.”

50 jurors vote on the semifinalists as well as the overall winners of each category. These jurors are professional automotive journalists from Canada and the United States.

The Chevy Corvette Stingray won the Car of the Year award last year over the Toyota Supra, and Hyundai Sonata. The Kia Telluride won the Utility category, defeating the Hyundai Palisade & Lincoln Aviator. The Jeep Gladiator won over the Ram Heavy Duty, and the Ford Ranger.
