This is where we like to be.
This Ford-versus-Chevy video will get you through the weekend. A few days ago, Men’s Humor posted a strange photo that showed a pair large billboards along the roadside. The caption at the top of the post read: “Looking forward watching this billboard battle escalate.”
As it is a general poke at all things Chevrolet, we think the Ford ad was first. However, the Chevy ad is very specific and well done. While we aren’t taking sides, let’s not forget to give credit to the Chevy dealer for this brilliant idea. After doing some research (ok, we did a Google search for 30 seconds), we discovered that Marchant Chevrolet is actually a neighbor to Ravenel Ford. Both are located in Ravenel South Carolina, and are separated only by a few miles.
Billboard advertising is not cheap, for the record. A large wrap can cost hundreds of money, while a rental space for the space could easily run into the thousands. If the Ford billboard was the first to go up, it is likely that someone at the Chevy dealership felt the need to spend serious money for a brilliant public comeback. That kind of initiative is admirable. And, hey, it’s not just Savannah Highway commuters who are benefiting from this investment. This post by Men’s Humor currently has 62,000 views and more than 2,700 comments. This little billboard war has gone viral.
Now the million-dollar question is: Where do we go from there? Ravenel Ford is clearly the next mover – maybe a joke on the Silverado’s new controversial face? Maybe it’s time to send a humorous Ram advertisement to the Dodge dealer closest to you. We will be watching for possible retribution in any case.
