It is identical to the original but has no combustion engine.
Lunaz, a British company that specializes in EV conversions for classic English cars, is called “Lunaz”. The latest is the Aston Martin DB6 which replaces the original inline six with electric power. Lunaz states that the price is more than $1 million and delivery will begin in the third quarter 2023. The company will accept commissions from clients for Aston Martin DB4 or DB5 EV conversions.
Lunaz begins with an original DB6 and takes it apart to restore it to concours condition. It’s hard to see from the outside that this is an EV-converted Aston Martin. The client can choose between left- and right-hand drive. In the event that a future owner wishes to return the vehicle to its original specifications, the team will save the original engine/drivetrain.
The company has provided powertrain specifications for the electric DB6. The company promises that the car will combine a fast initial acceleration with all the classic characteristics of a classic vehicle. This one, like previous Lunaz models has a battery capacity between 80 kilowatthours and 120 kWh. The range projected is 255 miles (410 km).
Lunaz also upgrades the brakes and suspension to match the electric powertrain. Lunaz can add modern amenities such as air conditioning, navigation and an infotainment program. Customers who are environmentally conscious can specify carpets made from recycled fishing nets or other sustainable materials.
The DB6’s $1 million price tag is quite high even by Lunaz standards. The 1961 Bentley S2 Continental Flying Spur Electric EV is priced at PS350,000 and the 1961 Rolls-Royce Phantom V starts at PS500,000. Other conversions by the company include a 1953 Jaguar XK120, and first generation Range Rover.
These EV restomods are apparently in demand because Lunaz has doubled its workforce to 35. This business was founded in 2018.
