Oder is it?
These shots are believed to capture the hybrid Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray testing at Nurburgring. We are not 100% certain this is true.
The body of this Corvette is almost identical to the new . It has two exhaust pipes in each corner, while the Z06 has one.
An older spy video showed an E-Ray rear with a similar appearance. This one had wheels covers.
Problem is, Z06 early models have an almost identical appearance. It is possible that these E-Rays could be Z06 test mules.
It’s also odd that the Corvette does not have the sticker required for hybrids and EVs to be tested at the Nurburgring. It is possible that engineers are waiting for the decal to be applied closer to the track to avoid giving away any information to spy photographers.
According to reports, the E-Ray will use an existing 6.2-liter LT2V8 engine with an electric motor that powers the front axle. This gives the car all-wheel drive. The output is between 600 horsepower (447 Kilowatts) and 650 horses (484 kW) .
The Z06 is said to have 617 horsepower (460 kW). We’d expect the horsepower to be close to the higher number. It would be absurd for the first hybrid Corvette to have slightly less power than Z06.
The Eray will be available in 2023. It is expected to cost less than $100,000 and arrive in the market within the next few years. The Zora Corvette model would have electric motors at each axle in addition to the V8 that produces an estimated 1,000 horsepower (746 kW). It is expected to arrive in 2025.
