Ford’s future is now.
Ford is set to release one of the Mustang’s most essential features. The all-electric Mustang Mach-E represents a major step forward in mobility. Soon, select Ford owners will be able to test our new over-the-air software updates. You can now have the most current software for your Ford without having to buy a new car.
Ford’s Mustang Mach-E quickly proved that it is capable of making an electric car that is both attractive and capable. The Mach-E was a strong competitor to Tesla, while also offering Ford customers an established brand with Ford dealerships in every American town.
The Mach-E’s most notable feature was not its acceleration times or range, but the ability to get software updates over-the-air. This concept was pioneered by Tesla and it has been used to keep its vehicles current with the latest software. This feature is now available on EVs from Ford and other legacy automakers. We’re about to experience it for the first time.
Ford Authority said that select Mustang Mach0_ owners were invited for a beta program in which they could test the first over-the-air update to a consumer product. Ford will use this strategy to fix any issues and then release an update to all Mach E owners.
Ford customers will be able to update their software over the air. This means they won’t have to visit a dealership to get the latest software or buy a new car. If they are able to prevent recalls and correct software errors, over-the-air updates can be a huge help in the future.
