2014 WRX will be an independent model from Subaru’s lineup. It will feature an STI variant and all-wheel drive.
According to Car & Driver, the 2014 Subaru WRX will feature an STI variant. It will be a true heir to the existing model and will keep its main specs intact. This is a reassurance to all-wheel drive performance cars that the rear-wheel driven BRZ coupe won’t be the end of them.
All-wheel drive WRX STI will continue to be available and the new 2.0 liter FB (boxer 4) powerplant will be used. The STI variant will have more than 300 hp (224 kW / 304 PS).
The WRX will be its model, and it will be built on a dedicated platform. This platform is expected to produce smaller curb weights for the standard WRX as well as its STI variant. As we reported previously, the 2014 WRX won’t be built on the Impreza model.
