2023 Skoda Superb will get an all-new interior, VW’s final combustion engines

Rumours abound that the Czech flag will grow in size.

Skoda Superb’s fourth generation, or fifth, if you take into account the 1934-1949 model, won’t be available until 2023. But the rumor mill doesn’t stop. A new report by Auto Express aims at providing insight into how Mlada Boleslav’s range-topping car will change for its next iteration. It is expected to increase in size to compete with the larger-than-ever Octavia.

Thomas Schafer, company boss, has confirmed that the new Superb will be available in both wagon and liftback versions. The final combustion engine design of Volkswagen Group is reportedly featured on the new Superb. To meet Euro 7 regulations, more efficient gasoline and diesel engines will be developed. They are expected to arrive in 2025. Skoda has not yet announced a PHEV version for the Kodiaq. However, the Octavia or Superb will still offer electrified powertrains as these two models are very popular fleet cars.

The early design sketches show that Skoda will not be a major player in terms of its exterior appearance. However, the 2023 Superb will continue with the current design. The Czech brand will make it look more stylish and have the largest grille ever installed on it. According to reports, the liftback will have a coupe-like roofline and a longer rear underhang. This is likely to allow for more cargo space. The profile will have a more powerful appearance thanks to its wide and strong character lines.

The most significant changes will be made inside the cabin. The revamped Superb will get an all-new cabin, which will eventually trickle down to the next generation. Schafer stated that the car’s interior was a significant step forward, and added that it would “carry our new use language, which extends beyond what you feel and touch.” Superb will be the first to get it, followed by [the second-generation] Kodiaq.

He said that some interior elements would be taken from the Enyaq, implying it will have the electric SUV’s 13.-inch touchscreen. With Auto Express, Schafer stated that a Skoda interior must be functional, clear, and easy to use.

The Superb will be produced in Kvasiny, Czech Republic. It will then move to the VW Group’s remodeled Bratislava factory located in Slovakia. There it will share the assembly line in Slovakia with the nextPassat. This wagon will not be available.
