2023 Mercedes-AMG GLC-63 63 Spied Near Nurburgring

Rumours suggest that it will debut in the second half of next year.

Mercedes has begun work on the next-generation LCC. This includes the AMG variant. It has been conspicuously absent from the public’s view until now. New spy photos taken near the Nurburgring capture the high-performance crossover in testing. The model is covered in a camouflage wrap that covers the entire body, just like the GLCs. However, the camo doesn’t conceal AMG’s signature styling touches that highlight the model’s performance characteristics.

The Panamericana grille of AMG is visible in the front, but it’s only one of many AMG features. The trademark quad-exit exhaust from the performance brand is hidden under a camouflage rear bumper. Non-AMG GLCs feature a black-plastic rear bumper. AMG GLCs also have a lower ride height which emphasizes the larger wheels and brakes. Camouflaged or not, the wider sills on the sides are visible.

The GLC’s next-generation will share its foundations with the C-Class. This means that the powertrains of the two AMG versions will likely be similar. The company’s M139 turbocharged 2.0 liter engine will power the next C63 AMG plug-in hybrid. It is paired with a powerful electric motor. It would produce 643 horsepower (680 kilowatts) combined. This engine should also make its way into the AMG GLC. The current generation GLC has a twin-turbocharged V8 with just 469 horsepower (349 kW).

Although the next-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC is expected to debut, it is not clear if the AMG GLC variant will be on display. The GLC might debut later than usual, as is the case with many of the company’s performance model. We don’t think Mercedes will reveal the performance model for the 2023 model-year until then, if that’s the plan. The interior and design of the Mercedes GLC models will be revealed in the coming months. We will also see the AMG variant.
