They all share a Maverick-esque front facia design.
Although the Ford Ranger may seem new in the United States with its 2019MY debut, Australia has had the T6 generation midsize pickup for approximately a decade. It was twinned with the Mazda BT-50. It’s time to bring back the Ford Ranger. The Blue Oval has already hinted that it will be available in the first months 2022.
There are plenty of spy photos out there. A new image shows not just one but three trim levels of the truck. According to Ranger6G, the 2022 Ranger is shown here (from right to left) in the XLT and FX4 trims. Only the XLT trim is currently available in the United States. It’s the mid-level version between the base XL or the top-spec Lariat. We also missed out on the Raptor, which is not available in North America.
The trucks are still camouflaged so the differences aren’t obvious. However, Wildtrak appears to have different headlights and roof rails. The FX4 features chrome accents around its fog lights, and a different alloy wheel design than the XLT.
We are getting a general impression of a Maverick-esque frontend. This can be good or bad depending on your opinion of Ford’s smallest truck. The next Amarok will be significantly different, even though it will use the Ranger’s MEB platform for a compact electric vehicle.
While the Ranger may not be revealed until the end of the month, it will likely enter production on May 1, 2023 . Dealers will then have it available for purchase a few months later. The Ranger will be available in North America as a Raptor model with a eight-year lifespan. It won’t have the current truck’s torquey Diesel, as it’s expected to have an engine that’s gasoline-powered.
