V6 RWD and four-cylinder AWD.
The Arteon is largely based upon the Volkswagen Passat. However, it is sold in Europe as an executive vehicle. This is a segment higher than the mid-size D segments. The Stinger from Kia is only 35 millimeters smaller than the Arteon. However, it is in the D-segment. Although the Volkswagen is considered a more luxurious vehicle, it does not have six-cylinder engines in its range-topping model.
The Arteon R’s turbocharged 2.0-liter gas engine produces 320 horsepower (235 Kilowatts) as well as 310 pound-feet (402 Newton-meters). Through a seven-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox with launch control, the power is directed to all four wheels via a seven speed dual-clutch manual gearbox. Does that provide enough power to allow the Stinger GT-powered V6-powered Arteon to dominate?
A new Carwow video answers this question. It uses an Arteon R Shooting brake to drag race against said Kia. The South Korean competitor has a 3.3-liter V6 engine that produces 367 horsepower (274 kW) with respectable peak torque (376 lb-ft (509 Nm). Although it may be more powerful, the engine is heavier and driven by only its rear wheels. Side note: The Stinger GT can be ordered with all-wheel drive in the United States but not in the United Kingdom.
What is more important in a drag race? Power or traction? Although we would say that both are important, in this instance, traction is the most important. Because the track is slightly dryer, it seems like the car on the right has a slight advantage. All three races however have the same winner.
The Stinger may be discontinued in the United States after 2022. Although the South Korean automaker did not confirm the information, it appears that Kia was motivated by slow sales in South Korea. However, we have yet to hear any official announcement.
