Rarely do you see Rufs, so keep an eye out for them on the roads.
The Ruf CTR is the latest generation of. It’s a stunning car that has the look of an Porsche 911 of the 1980s, but incorporates modern technology such as a carbon fibre monocoque chassis. AutoTopNL’s YouTube channel was able to get one and do some driving.
The channel is not allowed to drive the car on an autobahn like the others, but it’s great to see the CTR driving on European roads. This car looks great on these tree-lined roads.
However, it was possible to run 100 to 200 km per hour (62-124 miles per hour) for a few runs. While the fastest time was 5.61 seconds (other attempts showed 5.77 seconds or 5.78 seconds), it is still faster than the best. It would have been interesting to see how fast the CTR could reach 60 mph from a standing position.
Ruf’s first vehicle was the CTR. The engine is a twin-turbo flat six engine with 700 horsepower and 649 pounds-feet (880 Newton meters). The exhaust makes a wonderful, raspy sound. The seven-speed automatic drives the powerplant.
The body is a tribute to Ruf’s Yellow Bird, which was sighted in 1987. Porsche’s iconic nose is unmistakable. The classic elements of the nose, such as the wide fenders and whale tail spoiler, still look great today. The stylish, sporty rear bumper is vented with a variety of vents.
Ruf claims that the CTR can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in less then 3.5 seconds, and 124 mph (220 km/h) in less 9 seconds. The highest speed is 223 mph (360 km/h).
The car’s dry weight is just 2,640 pounds (1.200 kg). Carbon fiber chassis and body panels are responsible for the low weight. The front features a steel crash structure and an integrated roll cage.
