McLaren Senna and Other Models Recalled over Fire Risk

Recalled are also the 720S, 570GT and 570GT.

McLaren has recalled several vehicles in its range, including the Senna, due to a fire danger.

According to a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 2,700 cars have been recalled. This includes the 720S, 570GT, and the hypercar-focused track-focused hypercar.

According to the recall, a foam pad below the fuel tank that was used for sound deadening may retain moisture and cause it to corrode. This could cause a fuel leak, which if not addressed could result in a fire hazard. The foam pad has not been removed from cars in the McLaren range.

500 of the 2,700 cars being recall are Sennas, which represent the entire production run.

McLaren Senna and Other Models Recalled over Fire Risk

This isn’t the first time the Senna has been featured in news for fire-related reasons. Salomondrin’s Senna set ablaze last year after only 11 days and 400 miles (pictured below).

The Senna can be quite powerful even when it isn’t on fire. The P1 follows-up with a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 that produces just under 790 horsepower. It is connected to a seven speed dual-clutch transmission that propels it from 0 to 62 in just 2.8 seconds to a top speed at 211 mph.

McLaren’s carbon chassis and bodywork add to the impressive power-to-weight ratio of 659 horsepower per ton.
