These screens contain a lot of Mercedes S-Class.
Recent spy photos show that the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee will have a modern interior design. The cockpit of Jeep’s new midsize SUV was captured by our source. It is clear and well lit.
The most obvious feature is the large, slanted touchscreen that’s mounted high up on the dash. The screen is mounted horizontally, not vertically. It measures at least 12 inches in size. It appears to be inspired by the upcoming Mercedes-Benz S-Class We are not sure if the resemblance between the two companies is accidental. However, we believe it to be coincidental. It should be simpler to use the wide, high touchscreen with less distraction than FCA’s Uconnect 12 offering. This 12.0-inch vertical screen is found in certain versions of FCA’s Uconnect 12.0. Ram 1500.
The Grand Cherokee is now believed to be delayed from the 2022 model year. We also can see some clearly marked buttons below the infotainment screen as well as a row toggle switches high up on the dashboard. It is a good sign for ergonomics that there are physical buttons. FCA’s familiar rotary shift dial is located in the center console. We expect some off-road controls to be found in the same place on production models.
The interior design of the 2022 Grand Cherokee’s interior is an improvement on the current SUV’s cabin. The dashboard fascia still has a slight wing shape, but the new touchscreen display and digital instrument cluster modernize it significantly. The dash’s wide HVAC outlets at the top look elegant, and the matte-finish wood panels that extend from the infotainment systems make it more sophisticated. We see a slight resemblance to the first-generation Grand Cherokee with a flat top and bulging instrument cluster.
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee will likely use FCA’s Giorgio platform. This platform is shared with the Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan, and Stelvio UTV. The Grand will be equipped with significant hardware upgrades that will improve its off-road performance. A permanent four-wheel drive with a low-range transfer box will be a benefit, as well as sophisticated traction technology and suspension technology that could help it earn the “Trail Rated” badge.
We don’t know the exact date of the Jeep SUV’s debut, but it is expected to be in November. This coincides with the 2020 Los Angeles Auto Show, which has been canceled. The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be available to dealers by next summer.
