Watch Cowboys Handle a Cow that’s Unattached on an Oklahoma Highway Action by cow catchers Drivers must be prepared to respond to potential dangers. Drivers must be ready to respond to any potential hazards, including distracted drivers, pedestrians and potholes. Oklahoma City drivers were faced with this last threat earlier in the week. One cow, among a herd of cattle, decided to venture out on Monday morning and head straight into traffic, toward the interstate. It was captured on camera after some wrangling. Blake Igert is a contractor for Oklahoma National Stockyards pinback team. He received a Monday call about loose cows headed down the highway. Jimmy Dishman, his colleague, saddled up and tried to help. Igert said to KOCO that the situation was “a little more intense”, thanks to his stanard wrangling. Igert, Dishman and others were in the middle of the traffic following the cow down. Two ATVs attempt to trap the cow. However, it is able to escape and continue its journey. Igert and Dishman then get into action. The cow is rushing along the road when one of them loosens its front quarters. As the cow trashes at an active intersection, the other ties its front quarters. As the two men struggle with the animal, you can see a FedEx truck passing by. The cows didn’t seem to have caused any injuries or accidents, which is a good thing. These large animals can cause serious damage to cars and inflict injuries. The cowboys managed to wrangle the cow. Although it is not known how the cows managed to escape, the scene was quite dramatic and the cowboys were able to help. KOCO spoke to Igert about how this was something he will never forget, even though it wasn’t something new. It is a great reminder to be alert while driving. You never know what might happen or what you will see on Monday morning.
